Summer Care Butter is individually handcrafted using natural good stuff: Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Avocado Oil, Cocoa Seed Butter, Zinc Oxide, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, Argan Oil, Neem Oil.
Each of the ingredients we use has some degree of natural sun protection. The dilemma in creating a natural sunburn preventative is there is one, yes, ONE ingredient that offers any true sun protection that is considered natural. Good old zinc oxide.

All Natural Good Stuff
Zinc oxide is a powdered form mineral that adds a layer of protection to your horse’s skin. Zinc Oxide has been used for decades (or longer) in human sunscreens and infant diaper protection creams. We feel it is the safest and most effective sunscreen active ingredient available. Zinc Oxide is the only active ingredient we use in any of our products. Together these hard-working ingredients amplify the sun shade properties of each other.

Using Summer Care Butter
Apply as needed for summer sun exposure both before and after, paying special attention to the area around the eyes, ears, muzzle and any white areas that are prone to sun issues.
Please ensure your horse has adequate access to shade (and fresh water) at all times, but especially during the summer.

Natural Sun Protection
When using natural and organic ingredients for sun care purposes many variables are involved in how each individual ingredient works, including absorption rate, application methods and frequency. That is why we don’t use human calibrated SPF numbers, as they don’t correlate to your horse’s needs.

I like the fact that the product is all natural. It does have to be applied regularly through the day though until you get to the required results and then periodic applications.

I have a soon to be 19 year old cat with delicate and sensitive skin. This is the first shampoo i have found that she had no reaction to immediately after bathing.So far I'm very impressed and have a semi happy cat (she doesn't like bath time but will be happy with the after treats).
Thick rich shampoo. Only takes a small amount for my 10 month old Yorkie (never trimmed). Smells great!
