I AM NOT A CAT!!!!
In the latest Zoom mishap, a Texas lawyer appeared before a judge as a kitten.
“I’m not a cat,” Rod Ponton stated for the judge during a hearing in Presidio county. The filter morphed the attorney's face into a kitten, so every emotion showed on the kitten's face. Perplexed kitten gave way to horrified kitten as Ponton pounded on the keyboard in an attempt to get the kitten to scat. Judge Roy Ferguson of Texas’s 394th judicial district jumped in with unneeded tech advice, “I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings. You might want to …”
The kitten meowed, “Can you hear me, judge?” Judge answered, “I can hear you. I think it’s a filter …” “It is,” the kitten answered. “And I don’t know how to remove it. I’ve got my assistant here, she’s trying to, but I’m prepared to go forward with it … I’m here live. I’m not a cat.” Ferguson, with an uncanny grasp of the situation said, “I can see that.”
In an interview with the New York Times, Ponton said he was using his secretary’s computer (he sure threw her under the bus)and was "mortified."
But he did see the obvious humor, “If I can make the country chuckle for a moment in these difficult times they’re going through, I’m happy to let them do that at my expense,” Ponton said.
The Kitten Attorney was certainly not the first, and probably not the last, video call snafu of the pandemic. What's next?
